Der Vorteil auch weiterhin klassisches Backup durchzuf\u00fchren liegt klar auf der Hand: Tape-Storage ist g\u00fcnstig. Bei einer TCO Betrachtung sprechen niedrigere Kosten pro GB und niedrigere Energiekosten f\u00fcr eine effiziente Nutzung von Bandtechnologien, heute und auch in Zukunft. Nat\u00fcrlich k\u00f6nnen diese Argumentation nur Hardware-Hersteller f\u00fchren, die auch Tape Libraries und Bandlaufwerke entwickeln und anbieten. Andere Hersteller bieten nur Backup-to-Disk Technologien f\u00fcr Backup und Recovery an und haben keine M\u00f6glichkeit die Vorteile aus beiden Technologien zu kombinieren. Mit den Produkten von Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) sind die Kunden bestens ger\u00fcstet die Backup, Recovery und Archive Anforderungen des Unternehmens zu realisieren. HPE bietet mit StoreEver und StoreOnce ma\u00dfgeschneiderte L\u00f6sungen um beide Welten miteinander zu verbinden.<\/p>\n<p>Um auch dem steigenden Datenwachstum gerecht zu werden, wird die LTO Tapetechnologie permanent weiterentwickelt. Und dieses Jahr ist es wieder soweit &#8211; LTO 7 ist bereit den Anforderungen der Zukunft gerecht zu werden. Mit der Verdoppelung der Kapazit\u00e4t pro Medium auf nunmehr bis zu 15 TB (bei 2,5:1 Komprimierung) und der Steigerung der Backup-Performance auf bis zu 750 MB\/s k\u00f6nnen 2,7 TB Daten pro Stunde auf ein einzelnes Band geschrieben werden.<\/p>\n<p>Wenn man also eine &#8222;EMC Data Domain 2200&#8220; mit 4 TB nutzbarer Kapazit\u00e4t einsetzt und mit einem angenommenen Deduplizierungsfaktor von 20:1 rechnet, dann w\u00fcrde die DD2500 somit auf ca. sechs LTO 7 B\u00e4nder passen, bei weniger Stromverbrauch und niedrigeren Anschaffungskosten.
