Did you know? When you received a hotfix for a previous Data Protector (minor) version, you should make sure the hotfix is included in the patch bundle before applying the patch bundle. This is recommended for customers which may have received the hotfix right before the release of the patch bundle. If your hotfix is not included in the patch bundle open a software case and ask for assistance.
Bug:
9.05 on Linux RHEL 7: Oracle 11g backup will not run without errors, when saving controlfile at the end of backup. HP case is open……..

After patching two Windows Cell Mangers to 9.05, older Unix 5.10 clients can no longer be backed up. They were doing just fine using 9.03. Telnet to the hostname 5555 reports back the client version OK. Trying to import the client fails as well. Did something happen that drops support for the 5.x clients? This is a really BAD thing for a patch to do!
Hi Kevin,
as 5.1 is very old and not supported since years, it might be the case that development has removed old code… or implemented new code.
Best to do, updating the UX clients to a more newer version.
Best regards
Daniel
Just for info,
there are some nice, new bugs included:
– the exit-code of pre/post-scripts is ignored.
==> Should be fixed with the new Patch for DP905 at the end of february.
– install/update of clients is now using “bc” on linux systems to calculate if there is enough diskspace. In DP Versions “bc” is not on all systems installed by default…
– copy/backup to encrypting LTO-Drives is no longer working on a linux MA.
==> case open…waiting for a fix.
bye…
Stefan
Yes it is really going well in terms of quality testing at HPE software. 9.04 introduced the CDB-synch problem, 9.05 fixes that problem but breaks the DA on windows when backing up the system state on a DC (cannot perform stat) making you unable to backup your domain controllers. 9.05 also introduces an updated VEPA component with new vmware VDDK library with a bug making you unable to do SAN-based backups if your vpshere-version is still on 5.5 – so one bug is fixed and new major two bugs are introduced – all because of flawed testing/release procedures.

Hi Oso,
can you please send the debug log, which has been generated during install?
Need to know the reason for the exit code 1 before recommending next step.
Are there any processes running before the upgrade? (ps -ef|grep -i omni)
Best regards
Daniel
