On 2016/10/13 Hewlett Packard Enterprise released patch bundle 9.08 for Linux, HP-UX and Windows, it includes important changes and new features. For a complete list, please refer to the patch description.
The focus for this release was stability, so only two new features were introduced: Microsoft Azure support and support for PDB/CDB in Oracle 12c (Pluggable Database/Container Database). In addition Data Protector now supports ZDB/IR for Oracle ASM and HPE StoreOnce RMC 2.02/3.0.
It is strongly recommended to read the full description of the bundle.
If you own a valid support contract you can download the patches from https://softwaresupport.hpe.com. For login you need the HPE Passport account.

Did you know? When you received a hotfix for a previous Data Protector (minor) version, you should make sure the hotfix is included in the patch bundle before applying the patch bundle. This is recommended for customers which may have received the hotfix right before the release of the patch bundle. If your hotfix is not included in the patch bundle open a software case and ask for assistance.
Achtung, mit dem Bundle werden evt. die Drives der Taplibrary nicht mehr erkannt ((90:1004) device address not found). Wir haben das Problem mit Linux- und Windowszellen.
Workaround: Option “Automatically discover changed SCSI address” entfernen.. 🙁
Hi Frank,
I believe this is now fixed with post DP9.08 hotfix – DP0908_b112_QCCR2A70728_HF1_win.zip
Not sure if there is a Linux equivalent available yet though.
the hotfix where you speak of is not officialy available.
I think that because of the ticket (Device serial numbers are not displayed correcttly after upgrade from DP 9.07 to DP 9.08: https://softwaresupport.hpe.com/group/softwaresupport/search-result/-/facetsearch/document/KM02613049?lang=en&cc=us&hpappid=202392_SSO_PRO_HPE ) is still in workflow state: action.
I’ve found
https://softwaresupport.hpe.com/group/softwaresupport/search-result/-/facetsearch/document/KM02613049
and
https://softwaresupport.hpe.com/group/softwaresupport/search-result/-/facetsearch/document/KM02608811
so i’ve made a request by HPE support, they provided me the patch and it solved the issue.
BUT you must keep in mind when 9.09 comes out, you probably have to remove the files
cause otherwise you carry the hotfix with you.
You can check that in HPE DP Cell, under Clients, open patches at one of the servers underneath.
Can you tell (on the fly), if “Power on” from Catalist is now supported for windows backup hosts?
Hi George,
the Windows Proxy Server was not made available in 9.08, it has been postponed to next version. So, for GRE you need the Linux Mount Proxy (could be virtual).
Best regards
Daniel
Hi Daniel,
thanks for the quick answer. I could set up a Linux-VM as Mount Proxy easily. But I think that the Mount Proxy needs access to the storage and/or to the catalyst, meaning that the VM needs FC-SAN Connection to the storage.
Greetings George.
is it ok that am not getting all components updated on linux machine ?

Hi Daniel,
Patch Bundle 9.09 is out, I didn’t see it on your blog. Usually I hear about updates from your website before HP 🙂

We are moving away from Data Protector as we have tested out Veeam and so far it’s great.
Love your page.
