Current Patches DP 7.0 / 7.01 / 7.03

Update: On 2013/10/24 HP delivered the patch bundle 7.03 for Linux, HP-UX and Windows. The update will fix many problems and enhances support for integrations and new features. Because of the changes it is recommended to read the full description of the bundle. Old Messages have been removed.

If you own a valid support contract you can download the patches from http://support.openview.hp.com/selfsolve/patches. For login you need the HP Passport account.

Download the patch bundle as usual, you will need your Passport account.

Update 2012/06/22: HP released on 2012/06/07 and 2012/06/22 new patches for DP 6.21; the patch bundle DPXXXBDL_00621 is a requirement to install the new patches. As always keep in mind to follow the right installation order and to read the description for the patches.

Update 2012/05/16: HP released on 2012/05/03, 2012/05/10 and 2012/05/16 new patches for DP 6.21; the patch bundle DPXXXBDL_00621 is a requirement to install the new patches. As always keep in mind to follow the right installation order and to read the description for the patches.

Update 2012/03/22: The patche bundle DP621 with time stamp from 2012/02/24 is not a new release; only the timestamp was changed. Sorry for the confusion, thanks to support bringing light into the dark. However, you need to install the known hotfixes after installing the patch bundle DP 6.21. The multipathing problem is fixed with SSPNT620_008.

Update 2012/02/24: The patche bundle for DP 6.21 was rereleased in a new version, the solved problems can be found within the patch description.

Advisory DP621 Patches

During the installation of the latest DP 6.21 patches you may receive following error: WARNING: Before installing this patch, you must install the DPWINBDL_00621 patch. Cause: the included install.bat assumes that you installed DP into c:\program files\omniback.

Update: 2012/06/01

A Non-Critical Patch Warning has been issued for DPWIN_00571:
    DPWIN_00571 – windows xp OV DP6.20 Windows – Media Agent patch

The following information has been added to the patch documentation for DPWIN_00571:
    Warn: 12/05/25 – This Non-Critical Warning has been issued by HP.
        – DPWIN_00571 may fail to install when Data Protector v6.2 is installed in a non-default location that does not contain a space character in its path. The installation will fail with the following message even if patch DPWINBDL_00621 is installed: “WARNING: Before installing this patch, you must install the DPWINBDL_00621 patch.”
        – Additional details on this behavior may be found in Change Request QCCR2A3822.
        – To work around this behavior the following steps should be taken:
            1. Extract DPWIN_00571.exe to a temporary folder (using 7-zip/WinRAR or similar tool)
            2. From the extracted files, modify lines 4 through 8 of the Install.bat script as follows:

Data Protector 6 – Patch Bundle 6.21

For coming christmas days HP delivers the next Data Protector version. Version 6.2 becomes 6.21

The new version 6.21 is a patch bundle you need to install on your existing DP 6.2 installation. Most important feature is deduplication, which might be known from the HP D2D systems or the StoreOnce initiative. For this feature aother article will be posted. Other features from the new version are a more modern Disaster Recovery, SQL 2012 support (standalone database instances), enhanced VMware features, changes on Hyper-V, enhancements for P9500 and of course bug fixes.

Important: Because of the size of the patch bundle the changed documentation was separated to a patch – see below, the patch must be installed after the patch bundle. Within the documentation patch you will also get the documentation regarding deduplication – StoreOnceSoftwareDeduplication.pdf

Download the patch bundle and patch for the documentation as usual, you will need your Passport account.

Update: With th release of the UNIX patches on 2011/08/16 for all platforms the current patches are available, please note for Unix the PA-Risc/Itanium Patches are not separated any longer.

Update: On 2011/08/03 the patches for Linux and Solaris were released, patches for Unix will be released very soon.

Update: On 2011/08/01 the first patches for Windows were released, patches for the other platforms will be released very soon. I recommend to read the included text files; a description of solved problem can be found in it; especially some new omnirc variables for the media agent.

End of july the first patches for Data Protector 6.2 are expected. At the moment the cell server patch is known to be released, there should also patches available for MA, DA and VEPA. With these patches the problems with poor performance, offline files, VEPA timeouts, barcode scans, Exchange Copy Jobs, … should be resolved.

Update: In September some additional patches were released, the main patch is the VE agent patch which now supports vSphere 5! The patches for windows also includes Core, CS and CC, for all other platforms only CS was released.

Update: For patch DPWIN_00528 a patch warning was issued, do not install the patch until further notice.

Update: For patch DPWIN_00528 a SSP was produced, which solves the problem with GRE and vSphere 5. To get SSPNT620_003 you need to open a case.
